The White Lion – Walkern
The White Lion Pub has undergone extensive refurbishment to uncover the beauty that lies within it. Formerly a coaching inn built in the 16th century, the White Lion’s origins trace back to the 1780s, when the name was changed from “Rose and Crown” to its current form today. Some of the original architecture and fittings since the Lion’s inception have remained, most notably the oak doorway built in the 18th century.
Inside the White Lion, you will find an inviting, family-friendly atmosphere with a roaring open fire in the main area to keep you warm during those cold winter nights. At the bar there is an extensive drinks range, from classic beers and fine wines to quality ales served from casks for that authentic taste.
The White Lion also serves up a hearty quality carvery five days a week and premium Barrel & Stone stonebaked pizzas, providing delicious meals for all the family to enjoy.
The White Lion lies in the heart of the village of Walkern, East Hertfordshire close to the River Beane. With its local shops and amiable and charming community spirit, come to the White Lion to experience a slice of village life.
